Supplies Needed

#1 Estimate sealer
needs
A typical bucket of sealer will cover 300 square feet
Thinner sealer covers more - Thicker sealer covers less
Divide the square feet of your driveway by 300 to get the number of 5
gallon buckets |

Tape measure
Width of driveway - Length of driveway
Length x Width = sq ft
sq ft / 300 = # of 5 gallon buckets

#2 Prepare the
driveway
Trim back grass on edges
Sweep up loose soil and stones
Clean gas and oil spills with a driveway degreaser

#3 Patch holes and
cracks
Patch large holes with blacktop patch
Fill large cracks and small holes with trowelable blacktop patch
Seal small cracks with flexible crack filler
Allow to cure for one week before applying sealer

#4 Clean the driveway
Apply driveway cleaner, brush in and let sit
Hose off and allow to dry
Seal spots with oil spot sealer

#5 Apply driveway
sealer
Do not apply if rain threatens within 48 hours
Pour out a small amount - Spread out evenly
Smooth out any brush marks
Do not drive on for 48 hours

#6 Clean up
Wash tools and house siding before the sealer dries
Sealer can be washed from clothes if treated quickly |
